Cronise

My name is Brian Cronise.  And I am a sports addict.  I co-started this blog with my friend Dorsey.  With him living on the west coast, our sports talk was limited to random Twitter exchanges that centered on my Celtics and his Sixers.  Then we kicked around the idea of finding a way for us to be able to just talk sports and share it with our friends.  That’s the best part about sports: if you know anything about a sport, you can add yourself to the conversation and you can’t ever be wrong.  I am a huge fan of Bill Simmons and Grantland and it is my personal dream of turning LastRoundDraftPicks into a fairly successful blog.  The ultimate goal: Bill Simmons visiting our blog and giving us a shout-out.

I played a lot of sports growing up, and I’m still pretty active.  But being able to watch and enjoy sports will always be my thing.  I don’t care if it’s Raiders-Bills… Hornets-Bobcats… Padres-Nationals…  If that’s the game being shown, I’ll watch it.  I prefer the major 3 (baseball, basketball, football)… but if it’s on, I’ll watch it.  It’s just one of those things that brings people together.  I watch games with my mom and dad often (sports-related talk is the bond that keeps my family close), and it’s usually the jump-off point when I see old acquaintances.  There’s that initial moment of awkwardness, followed by “So… did you see/hear about [enter whatever the latest headline is]?” and suddenly you’re making plans to grab some drinks and watch whatever is on that night.

I plan on trying to publish fairly often.  I’m thinking 1 column per week dedicated to that week’s schedules–some predictions, maybe things to watch for, maybe why something important might happen.  That will likely be a Sunday release.  I’m also planning a weekly article on randomness… or I guess that article might be a random weekly article?  We’ll figure it out, we have time.  The single best thing about sports: they last YEAR-ROUND.

Finally, in the interest of full disclosure, these are the teams that I actively follow and the players that I most enjoy:

MLB–Baltimore Orioles**  (Nick Markakis, Jake Arrieta, Matt Wieters, JJ Hardy, Brian Matusz)

**Don’t bash me.  My family is from Baltimore.  We’ve been Orioles fans forever.  One day, we will be good again.  And our suffering is still nowhere close to the magnitude of the Chicago Cubs.

NBA–Boston Celtics  (Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce, Greg Stiemsma)

NFL–Atlanta Falcons  (Matt Ryan, Michael Turner, Tony Gonzalez, Roddy White, Julio Jones, John Abraham, Sean Weatherspoon)

College Football–Virginia Tech Hokies

College Basketball–**

**I don’t have one.  I pretty much just follow March Madness.  I enjoyed watching Austin Rivers, so I thought I’d try Duke out this year.  But in the end, they didn’t show me enough to commit.  Plus Rivers is leaving.

So that’ll just about do it for me.  I look forward to publishing articles and then going down swinging as I defend my opinions.  Thanks for visiting LastRoundDraftPicks!

  3. I’m interested in putting together a website of sports blogs/reports/research. My idea would be to combine a bunch of bloggers together onto one site. Most of the people would be part-time writers that would write about the playoffs or draft or preseason predictions of the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, etc. I’m also interested in gathering together a few writers who would be more “full” time. I’m not interested in an article a day, but maybe a few a week kind of deal.

Would you have an interest in this type of site or would some of your writers have an interest in branching out to another site as well? I checked out your site and it would be similar to that. We could even possibly have your articles off of your site go to my site, if you’re interested. You could write an the same article for both sites, or possibly convert people to just go to my site after awhile for your posts. It is up to you.

This idea would take place in another month or so, if you have an interest. Do you know of other sports-related bloggers?

    Thanks,
    Travis Bishop
